Governor Tom Wolf said Monday that a statewide stay at home order will remain in place until Friday, May 8 for certain counties in Pennsylvania. Although PA has made sufficient progress in flattening the curve of the COVID-19 virus, major counties, such as Philadelphia, have yet to warrant a reopening of non-essential businesses.
According to Wolf, “Today, we are taking small steps toward normalcy. I want to caution that we will not be resuming operations as they were in February. We will continue to take precautions that limit our physical contact with others, and we will closely monitor this to see if it can be done safely.”
OTHER CORONAVIRUS-RELATED PROTOCOLS IN PENNSYLVANIA:
BUSINESSES
There is a mandatory requirement for people to wear masks inside supermarkets, pharmacies, and other stores. Frontline workers in home improvement centers, factories, production plants, and other essential companies must also wear masks.
LIQUOR STORES BEGIN CURBSIDE PICKUP
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) began accepting orders by phone for curbside pickup at 176 locations. Under the curbside pickup program, each store will take orders by phone from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — or until the store reaches the maximum number of orders it can fill that day — Monday through Saturday. There is a limit of six bottles per order. At pickup, they will require customers to present identification before they deliver the order.
May 8th AND BEYOND
Governor Wolf stressed the need for Pennsylvanian residents to take personal responsibilities for their actions by following proper social distance protocols. “Every human-to-human contact is a chance for the virus to spread, so more contacts mean higher likelihood of an outbreak,” Wolf said. “If we see an outbreak occur in one of the communities that has been moved to yellow, we will need to take swift action, and revert to the red category until the new case count falls again.” Philadelphia will remain under the stay-at-home order and will be considered for reopening within the next few weeks as Governor Wolf and Mayor Nutter monitor Covid-19 metrics
